Unexpected Blessing

Often, God sends things our way that don’t look like what we want them to look like. But He wants us to accept them because they will position us for the next blessing and align us with our purpose. I believe everything you’ve gone through is tied to your purpose. That job you hated or loved, that relationship, that delay, that detour—all were tied to your purpose. What if your next blessing is hidden behind a current one, and because it doesn’t fit into your life, you turn it down or give up too soon?

Most stories in the Bible are about people placed in positions that didn’t fit their lifestyle or what they thought was the best route for them. Too often, we make decisions based on appearances or advice from others. Do you think Job wanted to lose everything? He lost his kids, livestock, home, land, and even his friends talked negatively about him. He could have given up at any point because his experience didn’t match his expectations. But he kept pushing through the uncomfortable and unfamiliar.

Peter’s story is similar. He was done with fishing, tired, probably hot, and smelling like fish. Then Jesus told him to cast his net one more time. Peter didn’t want to, but he did. His blessing was in the "one more time." Look at Moses. He didn’t want to return to the place he ran away from, especially since he had killed someone there. Who goes back to a murder scene? Plus, he was returning as a shepherd, not a prince or military leader. But Moses did it because God needed him to walk out his purpose.

We are all tied to purpose. The story of Esther, and even Mary, is the same. Imagine being a pregnant virgin, facing shame and judgment, while carrying the man who would change the world. Daniel’s story is another example. He was forced to serve a king he didn’t agree with to get closer to his purpose. These stories didn’t stop in the Bible; they continue today.

God may bless you in a way you never saw coming, but deep down, you know it’s a path you must walk to reach the ultimate goal. Everything you’ve been through is meant to draw you closer to the reason God created you. Ensure you stay close enough to the Creator to discern between a purposeful opportunity and a real distraction.
