GOD Can Still Use The Broken Basket
We were rushing out the door, excitement in the air as we headed to an Easter egg hunt. My son had been looking forward to it all week. But right before we left, he picked up his basket—and the side was cracked. Not shattered, not falling apart, but split wide enough that he could fit his hand through it.
He looked at it, then looked at me—disappointed and unsure.
“I can’t use this,” he said. “How am I gonna carry my eggs?”
As a mama, I gave him a little pep talk, and told him it would be alright. Even if the basket was broken, it could still hold something. It could still carry what was meant for him.
We pulled up to the hunt, and he gave it a go—holding that cracked basket with both hands, determined. And guess what?
Not only did he fill it with eggs…
He was the only one who found the golden egg.
That moment hit me in my spirit. So many of us think that because something in our lives is broken—our hearts, our past, our confidence, our trust—we’re somehow disqualified from being used, from being filled, from being chosen.
But let me tell you: GOD can still use the broken basket.
The cracks don’t cancel the blessing.
The broken side doesn’t stop the overflow.
And even with a flaw, you can still find what was meant just for you.
That golden egg? It wasn’t missed. It wasn’t overlooked. It was assigned to my son—and he found it with a basket others would’ve thrown away.
Just like GOD will place blessings in your hands, even when you feel like you’re barely holding it together.
So here’s your reminder:
GOD can make it fit.
GOD can still fill it.
GOD can still use you.
“But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from GOD and not from us.” – 2 Corinthians 4:7 (NIV)
Don’t throw yourself out because something’s cracked. Don’t count yourself out because you feel broken.
Even the broken basket got the golden egg. 🙌🏾✨
