GOD is moving silently

The other night, I was on an elevator with a group of ladies. As we stood there, one of them asked, “Is it moving?” Then she added, “I want to feel it moving so I know something is happening.”

And in that moment, it hit me—how often do we do the same thing with GOD? If we don’t feel anything, we assume nothing is happening.

Trusting the Movement

That elevator was moving, even though we couldn’t feel it. The same is true in our lives. Just because we don’t see the shift or feel the motion doesn’t mean GOD isn’t working behind the scenes. In Isaiah 43:19, GOD says, "See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?" The problem isn’t that GOD isn’t moving—it’s that we don’t always perceive it.

Faith Over Feelings

We live in a world where we want instant confirmation. If we don’t feel it, see it, or experience it in real time, we assume nothing is happening. But faith requires trusting GOD even when we can’t sense His movement. Hebrews 11:1 reminds us, “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”

GOD is always at work. Even in the silence. Even in the waiting. Even when it seems like nothing is changing.

Moving Even When It’s Silent

Some of the biggest shifts in our lives happen quietly. Seeds grow underground before they break through the soil. The sun rises before we see its light. The elevator reaches the next floor before we even realize it’s moving.

When we step onto an elevator, we press a button, and we expect to be taken where we need to go. But the moment we don’t feel movement, doubt creeps in. “Is it working? Are we actually going anywhere?” The same thing happens in life. When we don’t feel progress, we start questioning whether GOD is actually leading us.

But here’s the thing: Elevators don’t require our effort. Once we step in and trust the process, we are carried to the next level. In the same way, GOD often asks us to step in, trust Him, and let Him do the work. The discomfort comes when we want to feel the process—because feeling gives us a sense of control.

But faith isn’t about feeling. It’s about trusting that even when we can’t sense movement, GOD is still elevating us. The question isn’t, “Is it moving?” The question is, “Do I trust the One who is taking me higher?”

In life, we get so used to looking for big signs that we miss the subtle shifts. We expect GOD to move in dramatic, undeniable ways—like parting the Red Sea or shaking the ground beneath us. But more often, He moves in whispers, in gentle nudges, in doors that quietly open.

Like Elijah in 1 Kings 19:11-12, we expect GOD in the wind, the earthquake, or the fire—but He often speaks in a still, small voice.

Maybe that elevator moment was a reminder to pay closer attention. Maybe GOD is moving, but not in the way we expect. Maybe instead of waiting for a grand feeling, we need to tune in to the quiet ways He is shifting things in our favor.

Sometimes, we don’t need to feel the movement—we just need to trust that we are already on our way up.

Your Call to Action

Instead of waiting to feel something, stand firm in faith. Trust that GOD is elevating you, even if it’s happening in ways you can’t see. When you finally arrive at your next level, you’ll realize—He was moving all along.

Let’s keep walking forward in faith!
