Guard Your Blessings
This morning, I decided to take a walk in the park. The sun was just creeping up over the trees, casting that soft, golden light that makes everything look brand new. As I strolled down the path, I spotted a flock of geese lounging near the water. It wasn’t just any flock—there were little babies waddling around, sticking close to their mama.
As I got closer, that mama goose locked eyes with me and didn’t look away. Her neck stretched out, wings slightly flared, and I heard it—a sharp hiss that made me pause. I laughed a little and said, “Mama, I’m not coming to bother your little blessings.” But she didn’t let up, not even for a second. Every step I took, she watched me like a hawk, making it clear that if I got too close, she’d be ready to defend hers.
I kept walking, but that moment stuck with me. That mother goose wasn’t playing when it came to her babies. She didn’t care that I was just passing through, not paying them any mind—she was ready to protect what was hers.
And it got me thinking: what if we had that same level of intensity for the blessings GOD has given us? Our children, our dreams, our peace—how fiercely do we protect them? Are we willing to stand guard, to hiss at anything that comes too close to disrupting their growth? Or do we sometimes let distractions and negativity get a little too close, not realizing the threat until it’s too late?
That goose didn’t wait for danger to come right up to her babies—she saw it coming and stood her ground. She made her presence known. She didn’t let fear or hesitation stop her from guarding what was hers.
I want to be like that. I want to be the kind of woman who protects her blessings fiercely, who isn’t afraid to stand her ground when the enemy tries to creep in. Whether it’s negative thoughts, toxic people, or anything that threatens my peace, I want to be on guard—unapologetically.
This morning walk wasn’t just a stroll through the park—it was a lesson from a mama goose. Protect what GOD gave you. Stand firm. Don’t be afraid to hiss if you need to.
Because those blessings? They’re worth fighting for.
