Solid Foundation
The other day, I watched my son carefully stacking blocks, determined to build the tallest house he could. He placed block after block, excited to see it grow—until suddenly, it all came crashing down. Frustrated, he tried again, but the same thing happened. After a few more attempts, I told him, "Son, you have to build on a solid foundation. If the foundation isn’t strong, it’s going to keep falling."
The moment those words left my mouth, they hit me just as hard as they hit him.
How many times in life have we done the same thing? We build dreams, relationships, careers, and plans, stacking them high with hope—only to watch them crumble. We wonder why things aren’t working, why doors keep closing, why we feel unstable. But the truth is, anything built on a shaky foundation won’t last.
I’ve been in a season of rebuilding—my career, my mindset, my peace. And as I watched my son struggle with his block house, I realized that GOD has been teaching me the same lesson. If I want to build a life that’s unshakable, I have to make sure I’m building on Him—the only foundation that never cracks, never shifts, never fails.
GOD Is the Solid Rock
Matthew 7:24-25 says:
"Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock."
That’s the kind of foundation I want for my life. Not one built on fear, opinions, or temporary success, but one rooted in faith, obedience, and trust in GOD. Because when the storms come (and they will), I don’t want to be knocked down every time. I want to stand firm, knowing that I’m held up by something greater than me.
Check Your Foundation
If life feels unstable, maybe it’s time to check what you’re building on. Are you placing your trust in people, money, or achievements? Or are you anchoring yourself in GOD’s promises? When my son finally built his block house on a stronger base, it stood tall. And when we build our lives on GOD, we will too.
So today, I challenge you (and myself): Make sure your foundation is solid. Make sure it’s GOD. Because when He’s at the base, everything built on top of it will stand.
