Child-like Faith

As a mom, nothing fills my heart with more pride than watching my daughter work hard for something she truly wants. Recently, I’ve been witnessing just that as my six-year-old daughter pursues her next karate belt. She already has her green belt, but with our upcoming move, she’s determined to earn her blue belt before we leave Missouri for good.

When her teacher told her that it was possible if she attended two classes a day, something in her just clicked. Since then, she’s been showing up, twice a day, putting in the work without any complaints. It’s incredible to see that kind of dedication in someone so young. At her age, I wasn’t thinking about working that hard toward anything. Yet, here she is, focused and committed.

Her determination reminds me that age doesn’t determine dedication—heart does. Sometimes, we think kids are too young to understand commitment or hard work, but they often surprise us. Watching her give her all for that blue belt makes me think about how often we, as adults, get discouraged before we even begin.

How often do we hear GOD urging us to push beyond our limits, but we hesitate because it seems too hard or overwhelming? My daughter is teaching me that sometimes, you just have to go for it—show up, put in the work, and trust the process.

This journey also reminds me of one of my favorite scriptures:
"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." - Philippians 4:13 (NKJV)

Her persistence is proof that when you set your mind to something and put in the work, GOD meets you there. She’s not worried about failing or not making it; she’s focused on the next step. That’s the kind of faith we need—a faith that doesn’t worry about the end result but trusts that GOD will provide the strength for each step.

Maybe there’s something you’re hesitating to pursue because it seems too hard or out of reach. Be like my daughter—go all in, twice a day if you have to! Show up, keep pushing, and don’t let fear stop you. If a six-year-old can push beyond what’s comfortable to reach her goal, what’s stopping you?

Take a lesson from the determination of a child—when you decide to commit, GOD will give you the strength to see it through. Keep pressing forward, and know that with faith, anything is possible.
