When the Storm Won’t Stop
“Have you ever been sitting somewhere, minding your business, and overheard a conversation that made you stop in your tracks? That happened to me today in a coffee shop. I wasn’t eavesdropping— he just happened to be speaking very loudly, but when I tell you this man’s life sounded like a movie script of back-to-back disasters, I had to pause and process. His wife is sick, his dad died and came back—twice—and then a tornado came through. At some point, you have to wonder… how much can one person take?”
He wasn’t even complaining—just laying it all out. And it got me thinking…
We all go through storms. Sometimes, it feels like one thing after another, and we start to wonder if we’re cursed, forgotten, or just plain unlucky. But here’s what I know:
GOD never leaves us in the storm. It may feel endless, but He’s still there (Isaiah 41:10).
Sometimes, survival is the testimony. We don’t always get neat endings or easy answers, but we get through (Psalm 34:19).
What’s trying to break you might be strengthening you. Every hard season is shaping something in us, even when we can’t see it (Romans 5:3-4).
Hearing that man’s story made me wonder—how often do we focus on the weight of the storm instead of the strength we’ve gained from surviving it? What if instead of saying, “Look at everything that went wrong,” we started saying, “Look at what I made it through”?
LET US PRAY:
"Lord, I may not understand the storms in my life, but I trust that You are with me in every season. When the weight feels too heavy, remind me that You are my strength. When it feels like I can’t take another hit, help me to remember that I have survived before and I will again. Thank You for walking with me through every high and low. In Jesus’ name, Amen."
